A RESEARCHER, DEVELOPER AND PRACTITIONER FOR ACTIVATE IS REQUIRED

Activate in the Classroom, which utilises hundreds of repeated movement patterns to music, is now used by over 300,000 children in almost 2,000 schools.

The person for this new position will be responsible for analysing the physical fluency development and some academic capability of individual clients and sometimes whole classes of children doing Activate. The individual Activation programmes are specifically designed movement patterns to music. Excellent communication skills are needed. The ability to gain trust and confidence and be able to motivate participants, mentors and teachers to complete the movement programmes is crucial. The keeping of precise records of the progress of participants and end of module assessments are also important.

It is also envisaged that the successful candidate would be able to construct and conduct various training courses explaining the physiological and cerebellar-vestibular benefits arising from the Activate Programmes. Having a detailed knowledge of or experience in repetitive movement therapy and the ability to construct and manage research studies would be advantageous. The position would probably be located in Northampton.

• analyse relevant medical histories and be able to interpret test results accurately.
• be able to clearly explain the therapeutic processes and benefits.
• have logical reasoning skills, adequate IT skills, initiative and good motivation.
• have a flexible approach to work and good listening and organising skills.

SOME SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• A knowledge of child development and special needs learning and behavioural dysfunctional conditions.
• A strong interest in the remediation of dyspraxia and related learning difficulties using repetitive movement therapies.
• A strong interest in movement related neurological developments, reflexes and basal dominance implications.
• Perhaps experience of therapy programmes such as I.N.P.P. Dore etc.
• Preferably have over 3 years' experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate would have a degree and research experience or post graduate qualification in one of the following areas:-

• Physiotherapy
• Psychology
• Occupational Therapy
• Sports, Physical Education Science
• Audiology
• Biology
• Health Science/Studies

Exceptionally, candidates having a nursing or teaching background with advanced qualifications would also be considered.
