Action Kids 2-Day Course

ACTION KIDS PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND PLAY WITH FUN FOR PRE-SCHOOL PRACTITIONERS

Course Objectives:

• to develop knowledge, understanding and confidence in how to deliver Action Kids Physical Development with fun activities for children aged 2 - 5 years
• to understand how to adjust, extend and layer activities to meet the needs and capabilities of individual children
• to experience a wide range of practical activities using a variety of teaching and learning strategies and utilising music
• to show how to access over 90% of the early learning goals through a physical development approach

This is a very full and comprehensive 2-day course for practitioners working in the Foundation Stage. Active and thought-provoking, it stimulates practitioners to use a more interesting and enjoyable approach to physical development and guides recognition of individual children who experience certain difficulties.

Practitioners are guided through several different types of activities and are encouraged to use their creativity and a wide range of teaching and learning strategies.

The Course Contains:

• Understanding core principles of movement
• How to develop "Action Kids Physical Development with Fun" activities
• Warm ups and calming-down activities
• Activities which encourage and develop spatial awareness
• Activities leading to games
• Activities leading to gymnastics
• Activities leading to dance
• Extending and modifying activities and having appropriate extensions
• Accessing the Early Learning Goals through a physical development approach
• Principles for balanced physical development

The course explores how to progress and develop coordination, balance, mobility, spatial awareness and manipulative and aiming skills. It also encourages different and imaginative ways of enhancing and integrating all the other areas of learning through physical development.

Participants need to wear clothing suitable for practical activity during this course.

Included in the fee for the National 2-day course, each participant is provided with two comprehensive Action Kids teaching manuals for Foundation Stage Physical Development with Fun. These provide over 600 activities and 94 pieces of music (click to view the Action Kids 500 and Action Kids 121 manuals).

Action Kids at Home

Half-Day Course (x2)

The half-day course is practical and inter-active and explores some of the activities in the packs.

The Action Kids activities in the "Action Kids At Home" series address directly or indirectly over 90% of all the Early Learning Goals in the Early Years Foundation Stage and gradually develop physically fluent individuals.

Each course includes two "Action Kids At Home" packs.

Action Kids Song and Rhyme (Books 1, 2 and 3)

Half-Day Course

Links to Early Learning Goals will be explored and practical experience of the action songs will form a large part of the course.

The Action Kids activities in the “Action Kids Song and Rhyme” books address directly or indirectly over 90% of all the Early Learning Goals in the Early Years Foundation Stage and gradually develop physically fluent individuals.

Includes one of the books.

Action Kids 121

Half-Day Course

This half-day highly practical course explores different types of physical activity and a wide range of equipment. The value of different sizes, shapes and textures of equipment helps to make every activity fully inclusive and the Action Kids unique “layering” system is explored.

The Action Kids activities in the "Action Kids 121" manual address directly or indirectly over 90% of all the Early Learning Goals in the Early Years Foundation Stage and gradually develop physically fluent individuals.

Includes the manula and CD.

Action Kids 88 Music and Movement

One-Day Course

This course explores the principles behind effective use of the movement and music cards, reinforces the "layering" principle so all activities are fully inclusive, and develops further the move, play and learn philosophy of Action Kids.

All aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum are visited and childminders can focus on any aspect they feel appropriate at the time with positive personal, social and emotional development.

The Action Kids activities in the "Action Kids Music and Movement" cards address directly or indirectly over 90% of all the Early Learning Goals in the Early Years Foundation Stage and gradually develop physically fluent individuals.

Includes the cards and music.

Action Kids Early Stages

Half-Day Course

This highly practical half day course will explore ideas, concepts and activities in relation to stages of child development and how they lead towards the fulfillment of the Early Learning goals.
